Presenter - Brian Davis
1. What time is your time slot and what does your session consist of? (segments, types of music, serials etc)
Wednesday 7.00 am to 11.00 am. My program, “Breakfast with Brian”, presents mainly nostalgic popular music and Jazz from the 1930s to the 1960s. At 8.30 am I present “Focus on the Forties”, a pastiche of music and sometimes other current events recorded during that tumultuous decade, which included the second world war and its immediate aftermath. Other items include the regular weekly episodes of ‘Australian Archives’ and ‘Dr. David Talks Wellness’ as well as the daily Castlereagh Line and Passing Parade.
2. How did you first connect with GDR?
I first encountered GDR by chance, when visiting a local shoe repair shop and hearing some beautiful jazz coming from their radio. When I enquired what station and frequency I was told ‘Golden Days’ and since that time the pre-select on my home and car radios have been permanently set to GDR.
3. Why did you want to be a presenter?
I love the music of the 1920s, 30s and 40s and, having a keen interest in the history of that period, thought it would be great to be able to present on air some of the music and other sound events and doings of those times.
4. What experience do you want to give your listeners?
I love bringing back nostalgic reminiscences of the above period and hope my listeners enjoy my musical and sometimes other historical offerings on Wednesday mornings.
