Program Description
To make your late afternoon home easier, Tuesday Music gives you the music you’ve come to love on GDR. From the 50s through to the 80s, there’s a selection of music that you grew up with. From the crooners and divas of the 50s, through the ever-changing 60s, the rise of disco and the West Coast sound of the 70s, to the soft rock and adult contemporary of the 80s. We also feature the GDR Classic Memories of the 30s and 40s.
There’s news, sport and weather on the hour, plus traffic updates if something major is causing delays on the roads.
Presenter Profile - Therese Rossdale
How did you first connect with GDR?
As a child I loved the old movies and musicals that we watched on TV and came to know all the words of many of the songs.
When I was a teen, a friend’s mother introduced me to big bands, swing, jazz numbers and the old crooners of the 30s, 40s and 50s.
I loved all the music and also developed a love for opera, soul music, R&B, and classic jazz, so my tastes are very eclectic.
When I first heard GDR , it suited my tastes perfectly.
Why did you want to be a presenter?
I worked on Reception at GDR for many years and came to know and love our many listeners.
It seemed a natural progression to move on to being a presenter so that I could share some more of our marvellous music with our listeners.
GDR provides a niche selection of music that is difficult to find elsewhere.
What experience do you want to give your listeners?
I hope the music that I play will evoke wonderful memories and will bring happiness and light to our listeners.
My theme music is ‘The Sunny Side of the Street’ and I hope that, in an emotional sense, it will bring sunshine to our listeners lives and really help them leave “their worries on the doorstep “.
