1. What days and times are you usually scheduled to be on duty?
Mondays, from 8.00pm until 11.00pm
Thursdays, from 2.00 pm until 5.00 pm
2. How did you first connect with GDR?
I first came across Golden Days Radio when trying to find some nice music to listen to in the car whilst driving.
Subsequently my wife Catherine bought me a membership for my birthday.
3. Why did you want to be a Receptionist/Program Assistant?
Just before I retired I heard Golden Days Radio advertising for volunteers and as the station was run entirely by them I decided that it was something that I would be interested in doing.
4. What are the most important things that you believe you can do for listeners who call in, and for the Presenter you are supporting?
The most important thing that I can do, not only for the listeners but for all callers to the station is to listen to what the caller is saying and respond accordingly. Passing on comments to the presenter about the music being played helps them when they are selecting music for future programs. If the call is not related to the current program e.g. membership, talks, csa’s birthday greetings, what was played at a particular time etc. I try to help them if possible rather than say I will get someone to call you back.
